Default Putting back the Cat after running Test Pipe (thoughts)

Well personally I think I gained a little on the post V-TEC area though not much at all. Just seems to keep its breath a tiny bit better than before.

Though what I CAN say for sure is that I LOST power on the PRE-V-TEC area. It's lost it's low end grunt that it had before and doesn't push me into the seat like it did before.

It was a quick change over(after buying new front bolts to the tune of 20 bucks) So I will run it this way for a bit but will go back to the test pipe. I will put up with the smell/goldening of the tips and extra crap that kicks up on the pipes and back of car. I like that extra grunt.

I correlate the extra power to exactly if not a little more than what the Mugen header did for me. I hated giving it up because of the lost power but I am very glad to have gotten it back.

In short: I care not what you say about dyno sheets though I know for a fact that I gained power low end and lost just a touch of it on the high end.

I have had the test pipe on for some MONTHS now(most of the summer) and had a good feel for what the car acted like.

Yepp. If you can deal with the issues.

If you are one to drive it and like the power increases pre-vtec and loos just a hair on the top end much like the Mugen Headers.

If you drive to live in the post VTEC area then I would say it's not for you.

Interesting...these results indicate that the CAT actually flows better than the test pipe.

However, it's all subjective until a dyno sheet is produced. I know you said that you don't care about dyno sheets, but when discussing the power output and delivery characteristic of an engine, how can you not care about dyno sheets?

WOW

I completely disagree, and I am surprised

before I put on test pipe car felt ok with header and exhaust
But after installing test pipe

Noticed NO pre vtec loss
but vtec to redline..car pulls much stronger...no loss at 8K range

this is all feel and butt dyno of course

Maybe because I run a single exit though

I agreed with you too. IMO, I notice the rpm rev up much faster with the test pipe than my Mugen exhaust. I cannot really tell a diff when I first got my exhaust install. For that kind of money, I would say it is best bang for the buck

The butt dyno lies.

You know why VTEC usually feels powerful when it engages? Because Honda usually pushes it up past where the low cam runs out of breath... meaning, because there is a dip in power just below VTEC.

That "boost" you feel may be a loss in power just below VTEC that the test pipe was filling in.
