Default quaife diff

Anyone been in contact with quaife about a diff for the S2000? They offer a limited lifetime warranty on all of their diffs. Also, people have said the weak point are the brackets that hold the diff on ....does someone have a picture of exactly what they are talking about?

Check this thread:

If you go down to the pictures posted by S2Kguy and the first pic titled "ring", you'll see the brackets they might be talking about. It is the "end caps" that are the weak points. The 2 large bolts (with one in the middle) hold the end caps in place.

I dont think Quaife makes a unit for the S2000 because whats the point of getting a Torsen limited- slip to replace... a Torsen limited slip!

uh no...no joke. what exacty is it that you want to buy from Quaife? their usual Torsen style limted-slip unit? ring/pinion gears? differential housing?.... that is, what is it that you think people are breaking on our cars?

As far as I know, the Torsens in our cars are *not* whats breaking. At least, I have yet to hear of anyone tear down their broken diff to find that it was the Torsen that failed. Its usually the pinion gear that breaks (such as in my car)... and sometimes because the bearing cap cracked. Any Torsen that I've heard of failing in an S2000 has done so because it swallowed a piece of pinion gear that failed first.

If you're not talking about a just a new limited slip from Quaife, then you must be asking for a complete differential assembly... housing, gears, Torsen... the works. I think they'll happily sell you an assembly of their own design from somewhere in the neighborhood of $7k.

as far as handing 1000hp... well, I'd like something that could handle 250hp for a start. ... but thats not going to come from changing the limited-slip unit.

Jason, I've had two Torsens go bad on me now w/o losing any other part of the assembly (no busted ring&pinion or bearing caps)
I did contact Quaife about a year ago and was told they didn't have nor plan to make an application for the S2000 in the future
