Default Question about front upper control arms

I own a 2001 S2k, and ever since I bought the car I’ve heard a squeak when turning the wheel at low speeds. It’s the loudest when not moving.
today I had a buddy turn the wheel while I listened and it seems to be coming from the part in the front right upper control arm which I circled in the picture attached. I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to working on cars in general so I apologize for the lack of technical terms for parts. I have the service manual, however, I can’t find anything mentioning regreasing this part. Can it be regreased? How should I go about fixing the squeak?

That is a sealed ball joint.

Once it starts creaking, it means the bearing has either worn out or cracked or started pitting.

It needs to be replaced.
The two best options...
  1. Buy a new arm from Honda
  2. Buy a Megan Racing or Hardrace OE replacement ball joint.

You could also buy a used OEM arm from eBay or other seller.

However, creaking like you're describing normally will come from a lower ball joint going bad. Are you sure you're hearing the noise correctly?

I listened closely again and realized that it is in fact the lower ball joint. Thank you, I will look into replacements. I appreciate the help and clarification

I don't think Honda lower ball joints are available anymore.

Megan and Hardrace are still excellent options.

Hardrace makes a press in replacement. You reuse your OEM ball joint housing and press the new joint in.

Its extremely important to torque everything to spec.

You may want to try a mechanic's stethoscope to pinpoint the noise. Harbor Freight has them cheap. Have your buddy turn the wheel while you make contact with desired areas.

The lower arm ball joint is available but it comes from Japan and I had to wait 3 weeks for it.

Majestic shows the front lower ball joints as available, as do a couple other sites: https://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com...er-51230s2a000

If Honda has them, then they're the ones you want
