Thumbs up Question re: instrument cluster

I have a question concerning our instrument clusters: are there bulbs on the back of the cluster which illuminate items such as check engine light, air bag, etc.? If so, how hard is it to remove the bulbs?

^ Because these indicators are permanently on, so I'd like to remove the bulbs if there are any.

Removing those bulbs is almost like major surgery. The instrument panel needs to be pulled out and the steering column needs to be lowered before that.

Taking out warning bulbs is not very wise unless you've got something going on that you haven't indicated. I suppose if you have a different aftermarket ECU, maybe the CEL don't function the same way anyhow.

Check engine light will remain on because of this: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...f=142&t=401088

VSA indicator lights will remain on for the same reason.

Airbag light will remain on because I have aftermarket seats.

As you can see, these lights are of no benefit to me at this point and are an annoyance. It was recommended that I simply place some tape over them, but that is ghetto and I am not interested in doing that.

How did you disable the VSA? (pull the fuse?)

Slow...any input on this? I looked in my Helm's manual and it doesn't look all that difficult to remove the cluster. There are two screws and a bunch of clips.

You need to remove the column covers then drop the steering column. There are 2 screws behind covers on the inside of the cluster bezel, then the cluster bezel can be removed.

After that you can remove whatever bulb you'd like.
