Question for those interested in an Injen Intake....
They're re-designing my intake and routing the piping so that the filter will be fitted towards the front grill. The other design had the filter going towards the fake side vents. My question and the question that Injen had was: Would people be willing to cut a piece of plastic so that the filter can fit through? They're trying this design because it is a simpler 2 piece design. Only problem would be that you would have to cut into your plastic. I'm having them do it to mine but was wondering how everyone felt about having this done on their cars? This is only a piece of plastic which no one can see. I'll have them take pics and post them as soon as possible.
Is it hard to make the cut plastic look nice? I would think it would look funny to have one side cut and not the other. My guess is people don't want to cut anything, so the front grill would be better.
They decided to stick with the old design. No cutting is required unless you want even more air by cutting the fake vents. I'm gonna get my car dynoed tomorrow so I'll post those as soon as I can.
As Mingster noted elsewhere, you'll have to try 0-60 time, 40-80 time, or something similar to prove a CAI benefit (thermocouple readings also work). The Dyno should show nothing except maybe a loss from longer or narrower tubing.
Well unfortunately I won't be there when they dyno my car. They are getting it done at an independent testing facility somewhere in Fullerton or Brea? I've been told that they are taking off my front bumper when the car is dynoed so the air flow issue will not be an issue for the test.
One more thing.... I've asked them about coating and they said they had it tested before because of AEM's coating. There testing showed only a 1-2 degree temperature increase. I'm not sure of all the factors involved in this test. Anyways, it doesn't look like I'll need to get this coated. Anyone disagree with that?

I'm confused....I thought Injens intake was just a pipe and a filter that sat under the hood? Do they have a new one of some sort that is like AEM's that collects air from the lower front of the car? If so, what can you tell me about it and where can I get it and for how much?
Thanks,

Yeah Brandonb they do. My car is being used for the prototype and it should be out shortly. They told me the price will be around $350. I'll let everyone know when they're out... Also, I'll post the dyno results as soon as I can.
Dyno results for my car show a 7HP increase throughout the whole band. They dyno sheet got cut off at around 8k so he's gonna get me a fresh sheet and I'll get that scanned for everyone to see. They ended up going the old route to the fake side vent. Overall, I'm happy cuz I got a free CAI with some gains.
