Default questions

I'm new to the group and want to thank everyone for sharing all their experiences and car knowledge.

Where can I find a technical discussion of the VTEK engine?

What did Honda do to make it rev at 9k while VTEK's in their other cars stop much lower?

Does the S2000 have traction control? I don't see it in any of the specs. If not, why not? As I understand it, traction control is really just the opposite of ABS. When a wheel is spinning, you apply the brake. With ABS, when the wheel is locked, you take the brake off. Sounds like an easy programming change.

1. Welcome to the site.
2. When you ask a "question", you should be a little more descriptive in your title so that it can be searched later. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of threads entitled "Question".
3. It's called "VTEC" (with a C) and here's an explanation of it:

4. It's mostly in the valve springs. Put strong enough ones in and you can rev it to the moon. The only problem is to make the rest of the engine reliable at those speeds and the other part involves ceramic type cylinder liners. (There's more, but these are some of the key ingredients.)
5. No traction control because Honda wanted to keep the car more of a pure driver's car. Traction control is something that can be considered for lazy driver's who can't modulate the clutch and throttle properly to do what's needed. Some traction control use the ABS to stop wheel spin. Some use an electronic throttle modulation (like on Vettes) and some use a bit of both. You will find, that on the most part, a true S2000 enthusiast would not want traction control. They don't want to feel like the car is driving them. (Kinda like driving a barcalounger.) But this last bit is just my opinion.
