questions about front grill
i'm thinking of getting one...
i'm worried about damaging the paint
on the bumper though.
for those who had it on for more than
a month or so-
does ir rub against the paint of the
bumper, like when you go on
rough road or driving fast, and damage it?

I would recommend against getting one unless it is only for show. At the club meeting this weekend, RT patched his laptop into SpaceNeedle's White s2k. The data showed an average 14f degree increase in intake temperature, and the days ambient temperature was 82f. 14f degrees is worth roughly 1.4% of your horsepower. If you have a bone stock ride you just added 2lbs of weight and lost 3.5 hp. 3hp is what Comptech claims their catback system will add to a NA stook. They look good though, here is a pick of SilverSurfer's ride next to mine.

just an FYI, I thought the grill looked really good, but 3hp can probably be noticed on a butt dyno.

??
no- i didn't mean HP gain or lose...
i meant the paint finish...
i don't care about the performance-
i don't speed unless i'm on the track.
i just wanna protect the paint finish
of my car...

I would recommend sending a PM to RT or SpaceNeedle to get exact numbers and details. It was RT's laptop and he took a capture of the data. He should still have a copy of the data on his harddrive. RT has an air ram feeding his CompTech SC and had a lot to say about intake temp. I would ask him first. The hp loss was significant enough for SpaceNeedle that he knew there was a problem, especially with the warm weather Seattle had last week. I remember that the computer tweaks perfomance down a notch if intake temp goes too high, like somewhere around 190f. Double whammy! With the grill on SpaceNeedle never got an intake temp below the upper 140's. At stops he was running around 168f.

If you could mount the grill off the four screw points in front of the radiator and still space the grill away from the paint you shouldn't have a problem. At speed though, drag may push the grill into contact. Most of the aftermarket grills mount flush against the paint though, so I would expect the same kind of paint damage as using a bra. I am only guessing though, don't consider me an expert, this is only an argument.
Again, I think it looks cool, but there are a lot of negatives to consider.
