Default Quick Fluid question.....

Ok, my car just hit about 10, 400 miles. All its got is an intake.

Now, I want to put in synthetic. I was gonna order it from the marketplace, but have a question. Oil I am going redline synthetic. (Unless you guys tell me not too)

Next, I want to change the diff. fluid to synthetic. How much of it do I need. 1 bottle? 2?

Also, tranny....I assume the consensus is to stick with the Honda stuff right?

Thanks for the help.

Tranny: Honda MTF (1.8 quarts)

Diff: 0.8 quarts. You can use Mobil 1 75W90 like most folks, or if you're really anal, follow Road Rage's advice and order a quart of the LE 90W.

Engine: go ahead and use Redline if you want to. I use Mobil 1, because it's pretty good, I dump my oil after 5000 miles anyway, and it's readily available.

Obviously the marketplace carries Redline. We don't carry LE yet so if you need that right away you'd have to look elsewhere.

Recomendations are relatively useless without knowing what kind of driving you do. Severe track duty has different needs than street driving (even in NYC ).

I think we can assume from his questions that he's not a regular visitor to the track...

Rick's carries the LE, however, it might be a bit thick for winter use.

You know what they say about assuming, right?

Ok......So.....in NYC highway/city driving (this car will NEVER see a track)

Oil. Redline Synthetic 10w30 (unless you guys think that LE 8130 is better, or something else)
Tranny - Honda
Differential

I need 1 bottle of the Diff fluid right....I know we need 1 quart, but I cant tell how much is in 1 bottle...Ill assume 1 quart as well.

Do you guys think this will keep the car running smooth and healthy, or should I change something?
Thanks again for the help!

Yes, you only need one bottle for the diff.

Redline is a good synthetic oil and you should be fine with it in the engine. You need 6 quarts (you'll have about 1/2 bottle left over) to do a oil/filter change. We have a nice 2 oil change package in the markeplace so that might work for you as well. We do sell it in single quarts too of course.

If you're not going to track the car then the LE should be OK for normal use in the diff. I'd pay attention to what xviper said about it for colder climates.

If the tranny performs fine now with the Honda MTF then you should be OK with it. If you have some notchiness when the tranny warms up then you might consider Redline MT-90 for the tranny. The tranny takes 2 quarts regardless of which oil you choose.
