I just changed my oil and i put 5W30 in becuase i assumed it was the same as my rsx. Anyways the cap says 10W30. Should i have anything to worry about?

 

I wouldn't worry about it. Next oil change, use the right oil. Also, be gental on the car when it's cold. The first number 5 vs 10 is the cold oil weight. So the oil is only different when it's cold. It's the right weight under normal engine temps.

If I remember correctly, a 5W weight has a broader weather range. As in, you can operate the engine in colder or hotter weather than say 10W...or is it the other way around?

Yes, you're right--the first number is how easily the oil can be pumped in cold weather while the high number is how thick it gets in hot conditions.

10W-30 is the recommended weight but you can always use other weights of oil as long as they meet the minium 10W-30 requirements. For example, 5W-30 is fine but DO NOT use 5W-20 (won't offer adequate protection after your engine's warm).

 

Use 5w-30 for colder places, otherwise 10w-30. I wouldn't be worried too much.
