Default Radiator Cap

Hey guys, I have a question about AP1 and AP2 radiator cap. I have a 2002 AP1
So I bought a J's racing rad cap from a member here. He says it fits the AP1 radiator, so I tried to fit it in but it's not snugged in correctly. Apparently the rad cap I bought is a little bit bigger, hence closing the cap is not possible.
My question is, are AP1 and AP2 radiators different? My previous owner might have replaced mine with AP2 radiator

AP1 and AP2 radiators are a little bit different but the caps are the same.

Thanks dakao

(sorry jdmland but i need to borrow you rpic
According to the picture, the one that he sent to me is the left one. Here you can see the left one has thicker blue rubber and that prevents me from turning the cap.
Any idea if I can still use the rad cap? Otherwise I'd be wasting $25 for a useless stuff
