Default Radiator/fan help?

So I'm replacing my radiator and I followed all the instructions in the s2000 repair manual. coolant flush, bleeding out the air, etc. So I finally start the car. All caps on except the radiator cap. I'm standing there waiting for the radiator fan to come on and I notice there is coolant running out of the top of the radiator. The car is heating up and the fan isn't turning on. I feel the radiator and it isn't hot or cold anywhere. The temp bar is finally at 3 (ap1) so I turn it off. Fan was never engaged. The only thing I can think is maybe the fan doesn't have a good connection. The Guy I bought the fans from cut the wire. So I had to splice my old ones to this one and plug it up. I'm really confused and could use some help. Is there anyway I could test the fan? Thanks guys.

Ps. I also got the ac condensor and haven't installed it yet. So its just the radiator. No condensor at all. I didn't know if the fans had to both be functioning or not.

I would start be checking the fuse (underhood fuse NO. 57 - 20amp). Is the radiator fan switch plugged in?

Yes. The fan is plugged in. I will check the fuse as we speak. Thank you.

I don't care about the ac right in. Only the cooling of the car so I can drive it

Just.checked again and the radiator is acting right. Hot up top and cold on the bottom. Now I just need to get this fan working.

Do you have access to a multimeter or similar tool? Also, perhaps you can swap the radiator fan relay for a known good relay. 100% sure you have good clean splices?

If you turned the motor off as soon as it got to 3 bars, you didn't give it enough time to cycle the fan on. I hope I am not giving incorrect info, but I think that 3 bars comes up as soon as you are within the normal operating range, but the fan won't cycle on until you get to the high end of the range.
