Default Rain=no VTEC?

So it's raining right now in Diego and I went to go merge onto the highway and I enter normally because its raining, but the guy next to me was not letting me in. So I drop a gear and nearly floor it to pass him. My AP2 got to 6000 RPM and then started to stutter like it would if trying to hit VTEC when the engine is cold. Any ideas of whats up. Not a problem, but I am curious.

(Hope I am in the right forum)

There was a guy in Canada with the same problem. I'd look up his thread.

Oils good just got it done about 1,000 miles ago. I replicated the problem again today after school. Car is driven for ten minutes and then I floor it and then it starts stuttering at 6,000 RPM. Then I went to best buy to go buy stuff and I decided to try again but now in the parking structure. And it worked fine. Not like I need VTEC in the rain or anything, but it seems wierd.

you said the car was cold. ECT needs to be at least a certain temp before it will allow for vtec engagement. So if the car was not warmed up, you will not engage vtec.

with car warm and in normal operating temps.....does Vtec engage at WOT?

Yep. What he said. It's not scientific, but on a AP2 instrument panel "3" markers on your Coolant temp guage is a good reference point.

No I meant it is stuttering like if I were trying to engage VTEC when cold. It is warm.
