Re-wiring electrical system and

My S2000 is becoming a drag race only car. Yes, that's right, I am turning an S2000 into a drag race only car. Go figure. To each is own right?

Anyways, I am curious to know what the level of effort/expertise would be required to re-wire my S2000's electrical system and remove unnecessary wiring. Essentially I only need wiring that would allow the car to drive. I've removed my VSA, speed sensors, SRS, a/c and heater system, radio, etc. and most of the wiring going to those items. I know that professional drag cars are completely stripped down and although I won't be entering the professional arena I would like to remove as much wiring as possible and reduce the risk of any electrical failures.

Thoughts? :hello:

well, you could buy a new engine harness, gut the car of all wiring, install the new harness and you're set.

You'll have a spare harness that way too, you never know if you'll burn one up.

That's a pretty good idea! I would like to retain certain functionalities like headlights and taillights, but pretty much everything else could go.

BTW...I'd like to keep my current engine wiring harness because I paid my stereo shop around $400 to beautify it:

well then if you've already got it out, what else do you need to know?

You don't need lights. You'll need ignition power to the fuel pump and I can't really think of anything else that's not already taken care of by the engine harness. EPS is optional, if it's drag only, I don't know why you'd need it.

Sorry...I guess I sort of talked myself through it. I need the headlights for drag racing at night. Call me a wus but I'll probably retain the EPS. My car is getting so freaking light that I need to remember to leave some parts simply for added weight!

Well, you could pull the HID ballasts and lights and just power the high beam incandescents for night racing.

Do you think that would be overkill, or is it simply a part of going all out? Shoot, I may need to look at having the car acid dipped!
