just curious - why would you want to run the battery in the trunk? ON BMWs and some cars I know they do this for balance, but the S2000 is so well balanced already, and the battery is small and it's on the passenger side (opposite driver) so I feel from the factory it's pretty good except it's at a higher place.

First off, great write up, I guess if you're running a turbo, you may have to relocate the battery. Other than that, why not just run a lighter battery like an Odyssey? For the real hardcore weight saving guys, the extra length of heavy gage wire would also be an issue.

also i think running that type of battery in the trunk may pose a problem, i dont see a vent for the battery nor does it look like a gel cell.

edit: the battery should be in a battery box as well

for ingenuity

for execution

Well I dig it man Im prolly going to do this as well but with a few changes. The reason I like this idea is for a cleaner looking engine bay has no one seen a engine bay with a wire tuck..... ? HOTNESS!! I plan on mounting the battery on the right side of the trunk opposite of the six disk. I am goin to use a battery box just to clean things up. All in all looks good homie. Sometimes its not a bout function but looks some people dont care about that.

On the ground while it may not *LOOK* like it's not a good ground, but it works without issue; I'll have a electrical engineer take a look at it soon. On the venting, I thought it may be a problem, but I access my trunk multiple times a day working in IT, and have never even smelled any gasses, plus it's not like the trunk is some amazingly sealed unit haha. I will be moving to a dry cell battery sometime in the future though and relocating the battery again to a different spot in the trunk.

I did this for my turbo setup as I need the room in the engine bay. Also on the weight issue, please 20ft of 4 gauge weighs possibly 2lb IF even that. Hell I lost more than that by taking out the jack in the car.

Well at the track its required..... my guess would be so you could never short the terminals out and cause a fire but idk im not a safety inspecter. I would just use one because it looks cleaner.
