Is it really this cheap to replace a differential?
Ok so I've been reading people getting quotes from Honda to replace a differential at almost $4,000...
So I posted on Honda-tech.
It seems that if my diff went out I could get a used diff any day of the week for about $500.00.
I called Honda service up and asked them for a labor quote for a differential and they said between fuids, alignment and everything it'd be just under $400.00 if I had the differential to put in...
Ok, so people are sometimes/most of the time never having to replace their differential. This car has always been stock too, some guys running stock diffs with 500+whp with no problems.
So if it goes out... $1000 bucks to get back on the road with an inspected used oem diff?
really? what are people blabbing about then? or is there more to it?

You can get GOOD used diffs rigth here off the boards. They are pretty easy to inspect, usually just takes twisting the inputs to give it a functionality test. Prices range usually from 400-600. Installation is pretty easy too, could make a tech day out of it and have anew one in your car for under 800 in most cases.

Its good you doing you research, but a lot of your questions can be answered by just spending a little more time searching the site..
It;s lke people saying your diff/clutch/axles will break if you drift.
I drifted my 05 ap2 in an event all day and my clutch/diff/axles were perfectly fine. to this day.
most people are just overly-weary...imo..
