hey i got a question...
i blew my final gears on stock differential.
i drained the diff fluid and metal shavings came out. do u think its just the gears or the diff housing? i bought new 4.77 gears now im worried its the housing...do u guys know anything about this? im getting it fixed tomorrow. i wana prepare myself more before i do anything to the car.
i was told by the shop that the final gears are blown...but they didnt open up the rear differential. all they did was put the car on the hoist and start the car up. listening to the soudns coming out from the diff.
chime in if u know anything about this!

I would bet the housing is fine. The bearing on the other hand should be replaced. All 4 of them.

 

most of the cases i've heard the housing was fine it was just the gears that were gone. same thing happened to mine on begninning of january i blew out my gears and i thot i was in hell lol but i thought it was da whole housing i opened up da diff and the housing was fine! and make sure to get a yellow box with your 477's

 

is there a huge difference?
if it says 50k on the speedo... what is it after the 4.77 isntall?
