can someone explain to me what he does to the diff?? reinforces it? etc? and what he uses
Search isn't working, or I would link you to the thread about his business.

Puddy has created a design simliar to Comptech's reinforcement caps, that can with stand the stress of a high torque and horsepower. A lot of FI owners run his diff. Puddy is an expert in this area; with that he works quick. I think most guys get their diffs returned within a week.

Being supercharged, I run the Comptech reinforcemnt caps. They have worked well for me.

Just FYI, AP2's have a much stouter cap. Some AP1 owners just swap those caps, or the entire diff.

The diff will start with a slight jerking feeling followed with a very faint clunking noise. It only gets worse. The noise is the one or two messed up teeth coming back into contact with the ring gear.

not necessarily...this could also be a clutch issue. check your fluid

I talked with puddydad about the noise - He really knows his s**t. The car is currently my DD and shipping the diff for reinforcement puts me out a couple of weeks. I may look for a replacement then send him the original for rebuild. Anyone gotta an ap2 rear to loan or for sell for cheap? haha

The car has 65k miles, differential was replaced 6 months ago with redline and differential additive. replaced it with stage 4 clutch and lightened flywheel 4 months ago. Still chatters a little in 1st gear, requires rpm of 3k for smooth start.

The local mechanic here is from a place called GT Tuner - they are new. Off of 35 and Walnut Hill.

What parts will I need if attempting to rebuild the rear differential myself?

My mechanic took the differential apart and bearings are going out, causing movement between pinion and ring gears. The gears are shearing metal from the pinion gear, hence the metal particles in the diff fluid.

The teeth width is supposed to be wider, instead, the shearing has caused it to become sharp and pointed. I've never seen what it is supposed to look like, but makes sense from the mechanic's explanation.

What needs to be replaced: inner, outer bearings, diff bearings, pinion gear, seals, and crush collar.
