Default Rear End Popping

Need some help diagnosing a problem on my 01. I started noticing a pop or clanking noise when I started off from a stop (fwd and reverse). Checked underneath and the prop shaft had some play in it so I replaced it with a used one that was in great shape. I'm still hearing the noise. Jacked it up and started checking suspension and axles. Theres a very small amount of twist play when I checked the axles but what really concerns me is the looseness of the output shaft where it comes out of the differential. I wouldn't think this is normal but I suppose I should ask. If it isn't normal, how do I replace the output shaft bearings? Are they pressed in the differential housing or is this just a matter of removing the axles and output shafts and putting new ones in the housing or on the shafts? Thanks for any help.
