Rear Lower arm Balljoint Busted
I was inspecting the undercarriage and noticed that my right rear lower arm balljoing is busted, the boot is split and it leaking grease out.
This balljoint is attached to what look like a tie rod and not a control arm. I can get new tie rods including balljoints for about $40 , so im wondering if its really a saving to just try to replace the boot. I know balljoint boots are a PITA to replace, and who knows what condition the balljoint is in now that its been exposed to the elements.
Has this happened to anyone else ?

If my memory serves me rightly, the boot is about $6 and you either need to make a tool from PVC tubing or buy one to get the boot onto the joint.

My writeup of replacing the rear control arm:

(Note, I needed to use an air wrench to bust loose the nut holding the bolt at the bushing.)
