Rear Main Oil Seal
Doing my clutch soon and while i am there i am going to replace my rear main seal. its not leaking or anything but im doing it just for preventative maintenance since i am there and dont want to go to the hassle of changing if it leaks in the future. i have a manual and it say i need a specific tools but looked it up and is about 120 of majestic just for the driver and holder which is way more than im looking to spend. so my question to all you diy what is the best method to removing and install the rear main oil seal? thanks
Don't touch the rear main seal if it isn't leaking. They wear a slight groove into the crankshaft and unless you get the new one lined up perfectly, you're more likely to have a leak after replacing it. These don't go out very often, and the only time I've ever replaced them was when I was just doing a FULL teardown and rebuild anyway.
