rear piston is being a git
hi all
am after guidance
my rear near-side brakes had been sticking
after removing old pads i have been trying to wind in the piston.
it does not want to budge clockwise, it is stiff anti-clockwise too.
is there some part inside that might need cleaning and greasing?
any thoughts?
i am contemplating taking the assembly from the car to get better leverage. can anyone guide me on the best process for doing this please?
or is there a better way?
cheers Bert

if the piston is proving particularly stiff is there a likelihood of requireing the unit to e stripped and cleaned?
they were nowhere near this stiff last time I changed the pads. a large bladed screwdriver was adequate on that occasion.
can i use the brakes to push the piston all the way out, clean and grease and then replace?
I will also try a few tool places to make life easier when I do re-assemble

The threaded part (in red cirkel) is inside the piston.
The piston won't come out that far without leaking.
It should turn clockwise to retract.

Not without a full & proper brake fluid bleed
How about the hand brake (e-brake)?
The hand brake is off ... right?

hi
have been inundated
anyway
I took the assembly apart
the edge of the piston (part 18) has surface corrosion which was binding with the wall of the caliper housing (part 4)
I haev cleaned all parts and all seemed well, until the dust cover (part 19) had t be replaced.
you can just about get this into place but it refuses to remain in the groove in the housing.

ever since changing my rear pads myself it has been making a grinding noise when the rotors are cold. ocne the car warms up it's fine.
wonder what it could be?
even if i don't brake i can hear the grinding... it's a high pitched squeel like my brakes are out.
