Default Rear shock

hey guys
I am installing some tein stech springs and i finished the fronts. I thought the rears were going to be easier but it seems harder. According to this step by step instruction (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=303417), the rear shock assembly should just pop right out.

that is not the case for me. PLEASE let me know if there are other bolts i can/should remove to get the shock out. My car is sitting in my garage right now and i need to drive it by tomorrow night!

thanks guys

2 nuts on top and one bolt at the bottom. You might have to stand on the hub to lower it because it is a tight fit. Sometimes unhooking the sway bar on each side gives more up/down play.

On the driver's side, swing the fuel filler tube out of the way...2 nuts by the fuel cap and 1 nut inside the trunk...so you can get to the top of the strut.

i did the two nuts on the top and bolt on the bottom but i could not slide it out! i then proceeded to take off the upper control arm bolts because it looked like it would allow me to move the assembly lower so i could take the shock assembly out. now it seems like the shock is just STUCK! i will try removing the rear sway bar. is it just one bolt on each side?

any other suggestions on ways to take it out??
thanks!

wd40 sounds like your friend right about now Use a rubber mallet if that doesn't help.

try bolting up the top to secure it on the top end and standing/jumping on the hub to loosen the bottom

You need a hex key to undo the sway bar bolts.

hmm it seems like the shock is moving a bit if i force it hard. just that the rotor and lower control arm (? - thing that is connected to the rotor) will not go any lower for me to move teh shock up and to the side to get it out..

If you're jacking the car up only at that one wheel, try jacking it up with both rear wheels off the ground. This will allow the lower arm to move futher down and you should be able to get the shock out.

pop off the lower balljoint. couldnt be easier.

i use the 3lb sledge hammer method. absolutely no damage to the lower control arm.

ive tried it by pushing down the knuckle. it was harder quite frankly.

dont forget to load the suspension before tightening the shock. or ALL the bushings if you are changing springs or ride height.
