rear snow tires...
Hi guys,
Unfortunately it looks like I’ll have to drive my s2000 this winter with my Kia daily driver needing a new transmission. I need to replace my rear tires, they are worn out so what do you guy suggest I throw on the rear for the best traction I can get? I hope this winter is like last where we had a quiet Dec-March here on the east coast with no snow. But if it does snow and I must drive I want to make sure I have the best tires on the rear.

You absolutely need to go with some sort of winter tire. Forget all seasons because if you do happen to get stuck in some snow, you won't go anywhere. Most will probably recommend winter tires on ALL 4 wheels because you're not just worried about starting from a stop, but also stopping and turning. Not sure which wheels you have on your car now, but you can probably find a cheap set of AP1 wheels and get winter tires for those. They're skinnier than AP2 wheels/tires which is what you want in snow situations. Then, just buy yourself a new set of summer tires for the rears once the weather gets better. This is, of course, depending on your funds.
So, in a nutshell, 2 things:
I highly recommend against all season tires for wintry conditions on this car and second, DO NOT drive around on summer tires, you will die. Hit up Jim from Tire rack and see what he can get for you. Good Luck!

Tire rack will have the right size tires for you and not necessarily 225s. You can go with 215s all the way around on winter tires and you will be fine. Someone already says you want skinny tires on snow for better traction.

Do not get all season tires they won't do you any good if there is just a tiny bit of ice on the road (I know that one fairly well). And a narrow tire has more grip on ice/snow then a wide tire.
Kumho 4xs should be fine in the snow, they are really close to Continental DWS, I personally have taken my car to big bear with kumho 4xs and it did great, as long as there is enough tread. Otherwise get a winter dedicated tire or beater.
