Default Removed resonator... (pics)

I went to an exhaust shop to remove the resonator. I was happy to get it done after hearing all the good stuff about removing it. After getting it chopped off and replaced it with a pipe, the guy took it down and i told him to drive it around. I don't think that it sounds anything like the 350z. When he took off i noticed that really ricey sound... i shook my head. Maybe i didn't get a real good listen to the exhaust cause of the shop nextdoor was doing some cutting. Inside the car sounds pretty good; nice low rumble, but im more about the outside. tonight i am going to have my friend drive it. can't wait til i get my spugen.
overall experienced... waste of $30. maybe i'll change my mind about liking it later tonight.. hehe.

for those who have performed this, tell me what you think.

The piping diameter looks to be smaller then the rest of your piping. Looks like a waste of $30 and some power =(.

Honda spent many hours and had many "prototypes" of the exhaust system - I think your case is a good example of "modding for mod's sake", and the risks inherent in practicing "shadetree" engineering. Not flaming you, but changes to this car require careful thought and execution.

Hint: Resonators (intake and exhaust) have a (undeserved) bad Web reputation, and It is mostly based on ignorance of the underlying principles of Helmholtz resonance, and how it can be useful rather than a detriment.

Thx for the reality check - I am waiting on the Mugen, which certainly has had a lot of thought and metrics put into it.

I couldn't believe myself for doing something stupid as that. I am not saying for those people who have done this is stupid, but it is not what I was looking for.

Now I can't figure out what exhaust to get that is quite and not too ricey. But i was looking at the Spugen... Kinda loud, but like it..

What is the purpose of that 6" pipe that splits of at a 90 degree angle just befor it splits to the mufflers?

That's why I had Spugen weld the stock resonator back on to the OEM exhaust I bought. I got rid of my Spugen and wanted the other guy's OEM, but he had the resonator cut off.
