Default removing resonator? how does it sound?

I'm really just looking for something that would make my car sound a lil nicer from stock... (stock is just waaay too quiet for my taste)... I was looking to getting an aftermarket exhaust but after seing little performance gain from stock, started to check into just removing the resonator.. all those funds i save r now going to my vortech fund. lol but anyways, any1 ever removed the resonator? and how does it sound? does it drone at all on the highway?

Thanks for all the i nput!

IMO it's a bit raspy and rattly for my taste.

It makes the car sound like the 350Z but with some rattling that I don't care for.

I replaced the stock mufflers with magnaflows. the sound is much deeper and VTEC engagement is more aggressive. It doesn't have that booming effect of invidias. Also, at idle, the sound is same as stock but as soon as you floor it the sound output is impressive! The exhaust lets the motor spin quicker (maybe a placebo effect). It was relatively inexpensive i think i paid 80 bucks per muffler and had it installed for around 150 bucks. the total cost is a hair over 300 and i think its worth every penny. Don't cut the resonator, just replace the mufflers.

do you have a picture of the mufflers that you bought? or a shot from the back? i was thinking of removing the resonator also - no one has done it.

Yes people have removed or hollowed the resonator. as I said it creates a raspy rattling noise.

check out this thread:

if you want just a raspier sound then cut the resonator but if you are gonna replace the mufflers don't.

Before i had my magnaflows put on, i had the resonator removed and wasn't happy (tooo ricey) put them back on and now i get a deep rumble. It's not crazy loud..if you want loud get ITB's and a R1000 from amuse.

It looks stock from the rear. Only giveaway is that its silver and not black like stock. It still has the stock tips so it wont attract too much attention (unless they also drive s2000s, then they'll spot the difference in an instant)
