Default Removing Stock Cat

I just got my Berk test pipe in the mail today so I got the car jacked up to get it on but the nuts on the cat are so corroded that I can't even move them. I've tried liquid wrench and still nothing. Even if I break the nuts off I think the bolt thread might be too corroded to get a new nut on. Should I just cut out the whole nut and bolt assembly out and get a new set from the dealership? Any input is appreciated.

Here's a pic to show how corroded it is.

Try PB Blaster, you can get it at your local auto parts store

Looks like I'm headed to the dealer tomorrow. Might pick up a doughnut gasket for the header while I'm there just in case. I'm not sure that PB Blaster would work, it's basically one solid piece of metal.

Mines looked just like that when I did my Berk HFC install. I shot those rusted bolts with WD40 and some off-brand liquid wrench like 10 times in a 2 hour span..then used a breaker bar to take them suckers off!

Mine looked like that on my 01. You're going to want a new spring/bolt kit. No sense putting those back in (good chance they will snap before coming loose...mine did). I got each spring/bolt for 7 dollars from O'reilly Auto parts. Much better than the stealership I'm sure.

Do you have to use spring bolts or can you use regular bolts with lock tight? I know stock uses spring bolts but I just did this recently and had no problems...hoping that it stays that way.

It will work with normal bolt but I wouldn't. Spring bolts are there for when the exhaust flexes so it has room to move and bend without leaking.
