Default Repacing Final Drive Gear(s)

Is this something that would be at all bennefitial on the track (road course, not drag). Or is this item only going to really help in the low gears?

I could care less about draging.

You'll accelerate through each gear quicker, that's what it's designed to do. This should help you in all types of racing. The 4.33 and 4.44 gears are designed for road racing, while the 4.77 is designed for autocross.

i asked in another thread but no one really responded. is there any downfall to an upgrade like this besides the obvious loss in MPG and top speed. is there any difference betrween being NA or FI with an upgrade like this?

definately not a downfall. on mustangs, its the first thing you change out, but you need to get a pulley kit for those but that's a whole different story.

I don't think you'll be dissapointed at the results, definately not. especially on a road course with the proper gearing choice.

i believe Randy (1RandyC) mentioned how much more fun the car is with the final gear installed (i believe he uses both the final gear and some kind of transmission gear replacement).

if nobody buys the 4.3 final gear i have in stock i'll put it in my car and see how fun it really is

I think the only conceivable downfall to this would be the high revs at crusing speed. It may get annoying and possibly put slight premature wear on engine parts if you drive long distances at highway speeds.

Don't forget the speedo error, which nobody has a fix for yet.
