Default Replacement for stock airbox filter, which one?

Watup guys,

I'm looking to replace my air filter in the near future and would like some advice. Out of the Spoon, J's, Mugen and K&N, i'm leaning towards the K&N because it is the cheapest. My question is, is the K&N just as good as the Spoon, Mugen and J's Racing filters? Are there any other OEM replacement filters out there that you guys would recommend? I am deffinitely going to keep my stock intake box so getting a complete intake setup is not an option. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

average prices i found:
k&n-$50
j's racing-$130
mugen-$160
spoon-$230

k&n-$50

I have seen a few motors fail after a Spoon intake filter was installed. Installed dry and the drit just flies though it into the motor. Boom!

These are filters, the gains are minimal, and they're being used in the OEM airbox. If I were in your shoes I'd use the filter that was designed specifically for the airbox, I'd use OEM. A $25 Honda OEM filter gets my vote. Any gains from the other guys are going to be minimal at best.

i have comptech filter now and i used to have k & n. i like the comptech better. butt dyno and my mind led me to believe that the comptech was better so i sold my k & n. i think the sound that the comptech has compared to k & n is why i thought its better, i dont know. all in all, its still just an air filter and wont do much. i wouldnt opt for anything other than k & n or comptech(if you can find it) just cause the prices of the expensive filters.

I got my K&N for $45 and it is re-usable time after time after time. Most of the other filters I tried started to degrade after a few cleanings and cost way more. The stock filter costs $25 from Honda, so if you wash you K&N once you have just saved $5. And if there are any actual power gains, then that is just an added bonus in my opinion!

you took the wordz out of my mouth, the only good thing about k&N is it's reuseable, but do notice the gained flow is achieve by reduced filtering.

is there other k&N owner out there notice the mileage drop? i replaced my K&N with oem(new btw) when i was cleaning the filter, i leave the oem on the car for couple of day and it turns out 26+ mpg(not bad for many vtec shift, a/c on all the time)

watch out for foam filters, they are great for flow and best for turbo/sc application. but using it as CAI filter or with spoon snorkel it's a bad idea.
