replacing oil pump ap1
So I have been researching on #4 cyl missfires and seems to me that the main culprit is oil pressure to pistons. So to remedy that honda put in the different (4 hole) banjo bolts and oil pump, from part number 15100-pcx-13 to the 03 and up pump 15100-pcx-023. So the question is if I go buy that pump install it would that be a good precaution to fight the #4 cyl problem?

billman, good, I am glad to see you post. Have you figured out why then that the #4 cyl messes up in 00, 01, 02 and scours the cylinder wall? Is there a way to prevent it?

its not a misfire thats the issue. Its running lean and getting less than optimal cooling from the oil squirters! Cylinder #4 due to the design of the stock intake and coolant system seems to be the first cylinder to get influenced by increased temperatures! Either its going WOT on a long highway pull, or its going FI, with the increased engine load that seems to overheat and expand the piston and subsequently score the cylinder wall!
Thanks!

Curious, how would this apply to the pre-02' vehicles running the richer ECU?
Thanks!
Thanks!

oh ok so basically the piston just gets too hot from the heat. So even with added 4 hole banjo bolts didn't some 03 still get too hot? Thats why I am wondering if it is maybe oil pressure issue. But I might just be shootin in the dark.
