Default Oil Pump Swap

I'm getting low oil pressure at idle once the car has warmed up. It's fine as soon as any throttle is applied.
I'm going to up the SC setup over the winter, part of that being a baffled sump.
So whilst that's off I thought I'd change the oil pump.
How easy is it to do that by just removing the sump?
Any tips or tricks?

Oil pump change is a major process. The book calls for cyl head removal, but it can be done with the head in place.

You will need to pull the front damper and timing cover, and remove the lower chain guides.

Unless you've had some major engine trauma, I can say your oil pump is operating 100% normal. It was updated in late 2003.

Sump is the oil pan, not part of the pump. Even so, leave the stock oil pan/sump alone. baffed pans have caused major engine failures to a couple of my local guys.

Billman thanks for your input - I was hoping you would have something to say!
Sounds like I should leave well alone then!
My only concern is the low oil pressure (13psi) when it is warmed up.
As I intend tracking it I'm concerned it may get even lower once it gets even hotter

you should edit your thread title to:

"Those with gauges"

"What is your hot oil pressure at idle"

you'll get some good comparo posts...

Old thread I know but any updates? I am seeing a low as 11 psi for a second at idle once fully warmed up. Everything seemed fine but showing low pressure now.

low oil pressure at idle can be a indicator of motor health. My car was doing the same thing, oil pressure light would flash at idle sometimes. When I pulled the motor I found the main bearings were worn badly.
