Default Replacing outboard CV boot

I noticed small bits of grease splattering on the insides of my wheels so I thought I had a tear in my CV boot. Since the CV boot was greesy, I couldn't realy tell where the hole was. Anyway, I purchase a outboard CV boot kit to replace it.

After getting access to the boot, I realized that there was no hole in my boot. Instead the clamps were not OEM. (purchased the car used so it may have been replaced by previous owner) This didn't give it a good seal... letting grease spill out.

the new OEM clamp on the left

I wouldn't mind just replacing the boot but I have no idea how to get it off.

My questions are:
-How do you remove the boot?
-If I just want to leave the old boot on there and use the new clamp, how much grease should new grease should I pump in?
-Since I might not be using the new CV boot, I want to keep the kit complete as possible. Where can I buy axle grease?

Here is the axle grease that came with the kit:

Either the inner, or outer CV joint must be removed to install the boot. If you remove the inner you'll have to deal with the boot and bands on that end of the axle too.

You'll need a set of boot crimping pliers to install the OEM bands. The is a threaded adapter that is used to pull the outer CV joint off the axle with a slide hammer.

The other way to remove the outer joint is hammer on the inner most part of the joint, but you can easily screw up the joint if you hit it wrong.

You need to use all the grease you can squeeze out of the bottle.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I don't really want to deal with removing the joint. It's just way too messy.

For now, it looks like I'm just going to squeeze in more grease and re-clamp it... since my boot is in perfect condition.

Can I buy axle grease somewhere else? I would rather not use the grease supplied in the kit.

I'd use what you already have.

Yeah, I might have to if I can't find any other grease that will work. I'm going to try to give honda a call tomorrow to see if they'll sell me some seperately.

Ok. Filled the boot with greese... now I can't figure out how to tighten the clamp!

I tried using every set of pliers it had to squeeze the bubble but it's waaay too durable.

I'm thinking buying one of those rings taht you screw to tighten.. any suggestions?
