Default Reset maintenance required light on 2000 Civic

Hey guys, I need to find out how to reset the maintenance required light on a 2000 Civic. Unfortunately the manual has been lost and this light on is just driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should not have to start the car. Try holding down the reset button with the key in off. While still holding down the reset button, turn the key to position #2. Keep the button held down for about 20 secs

Now for the correct way to reset the maintenance light. The Civic is not like the S2k or the Accord and it does not have an electronic reset button.

I had a 00 Civic Si and the reset is very simple. Locate that little rectangular slot near the maintenance indicator. Stick your key into that slot and push until it's back to the green color. FYI, it's not a light, just a simple dial with a sticker on it that alternates from green/yellow/red depending on how long you let it go before you reset it.

Actually, I do have a light that comes on on the dash, my sisters older Civic a has the same dial, but the newer one, doesn't, and actually has a light on the dash.

Is this on a 2000 coupe or 4 door? I had the 2000 Civic coupe and it was still a dial type maintenance indicator. I know the 2001 (redesigned Civic) has a light as it has also become all electronic but I know my 2000 model did not have the light.

Odd, I didn't think they would put in a different cluster for the 4 door. This is the one you have right?

If not, you might be referring to the 01. Because if I remember correctly, a friend of mine has a 2000 Civic 4 door and it's still the dial type like the one I had..

THe '01 Civics went electronic in a number of other dash components as well - including the gas gauge I am told.
