Default Revert back to partial OEM exhaust?

Hi all,

Have a 02 with a Skunk2 catback. I think it is time for something quiet like the OEM exhaust. After reading I feel like every thread I have to ask, can I keep most of the catback and just replace the two mufflers to make it quiet again? I know they are a different diameter, but would it fit? Other ideas short of spending another $800 on a full catback? Thanks!

Or even a catback that is under $200 and sounds like the OEM, quiet and not ricey. :-)

Supposedly the Skunk2 silencer doesn't loose much HP...

I would say buy a stock used exhaust. You can probably get one for under 200 bucks shoot, I've got one back in Little Rock, AR that I would sell you for under 200. Although I am currently in Germany and the exhaust is in storage, if you were nearby and able to pick it up we could work something out, let me know if you are interested. Aside from that I doubt you will find a good sounding, quiet exhaust for under $200.

This is actually what I've been looking for, is the stock cat back. They are harder to find than I thought they would be, some guy wanted 500 just for shipping....

check the so cal classifieds. ive seen them go for about 150 average, and sometimes as low as 100. im sure they would be willing to ship as long as you would be willing to pay for it. not too uncommon either, as i see one up at least once a month. i believe evasive had 2 sets, ap1 and ap2 for 100 each somewhat recently.

I have a full 3" down pipe (no cat) and 3" mid pipe all the way back to where the stock pipes split into 2 pipes. I just had it welded together at the split and it sounds so much better. Thats what I would do if I was you. Also if you have one shipped to you , have them cut it down to the Y piping part of it and that will cut on shipping and stuff.
