As already stated, this hole is used to attach your chain for lifting the engine out. The Vortech uses a plate that is sandwiched between the engine block and the VTEC solenoid. This sandwich plate has another oil screen built into it and it acts as a structural support for the S/C bracket. The 3 new longer VTEC solenoid bolts is insufficient to brace that support. That engine hoist bolt hole makes it a very solid mount. It is this bolt that I believe what causes the engine harmonics to change with the S/C installed and thus transmits the additional vibration throughout the front part of the drive train and into the stick shift itself. It would be nice to be able to dampen that vibration just in case extended use might cause metal fatigue in some component.

When it becomes available, I would be most eager to give it a try to see if the vibration on mine will be diminished. Any idea of ball park pricing?

xviper, here's the link to J's web site. Gotta love the Japanese translation.

http://www.jsracing.co.jp/index2.html

19,800 yen ($251 CDN) for the damper, 5000 yen ($63 CDN) for the heat shield. So you would figure around $450 - $550 CDN to get it here with whatever left hand modifications.
