Default Rocker Arm Pistons

I'm rebuilding the motor and it is all put together and I have what I thought was just a dowel that I forgot somewhere, but after looking at it again I think it could be a Rocker Arm Piston. Anyone have a pic of them so I don't have to tear the valvetrain off again and redo all that?

if you just rebuilt your engine and you have a "i wonder what this part is" pile, or anything... that's really not good.

but it does happen. I would tear apart the valve-train anyways. if you missed this you might have missed more. whats 1 more hour of work when its an engine.

and it's a dowel.. you really do need those little buggers i think.

I expect it's one of the sliders from the VTEC mechanism. You can easily misplace them when taking the rocker assembly off.

For future reference, after pulling the cams slip a rubber band over the 1st and 2nd exhaust valve rockers, 3rd and 4th, 1 and 2 intake and 3 and 4 intake. Holds them all in place and makes reassembly a doddle.

I figured I'd be taking it apart. My "I dunno" parts pile consists of one dowel I can't figure where it went because everytime I found a place for one they were already accounted for, and this rocker arm thing. How many are there per cylinder. Two per side? Three. I assume the dowels are there to help line things up when installing, so since it is back together I see no reason to worry about it. Suppose if I want vtec I should tear the valve train off again.

One more thing, any trick to getting the bottom bolt in the water outlet fitting back on?

All the dowels I've seen on the F20 are hollow.
Yes, they hold things inline during installing (like a headgasket), so not having them in place doesn't mean its all installed in the right way, IOW things may have shifted during installation.
The VTEC pistons are solid, 2 per rocker assembly.
The order in wich you put them in is also important.
Wrong order = VTEC doesn't work / valves open in VTEC mode all the time.
