Default It was rod knock

I got on it a little on the highway, knowing that it's been not going past 8.5 because of a , guessing, fuel pump. So I would push it up to about 7. Well I hit the same problem and a loud shutter when I hit 7k rpm in 3rd and it was right before my exit so I rolled down the ramp and pulled down when it stalled, it was still moving at the time. When I stopped I tried to start it and it went extremely slow before starting and I moved it off the ramp.

I know I should've just pushed it off but at the time there were no real symptoms. When it was idling I hear this very loud knock knock knock at a steady pace. When hearing it, it does not seem like it is coming from the head at all and sounds very very low tone wise.

I immidiatly called AAA and had it towed to my GF's apartment, since I was visiting her in Gainesville. I have a bad feeling that it is rod knock but I've only heard it on other videos so I can't say for sure. Vid will be up in under 30 minutes. I'm waiting on taking it to a shop because if I get enough people saying it's that I will take it to a shop in Tampa that I really trust.

When I hear it again I think it's possibly clutch/flywheel area. But I don't think it is the clutch/flywheel because the sound is the same with the clutch in or out.

Here is the video. When I started it for the video you can tell it's very loud at the start and then dies off. Right before I had it towed it was constantly loud like it was in the beginning of this video and did not die off at all. The car also seemed a little less slugish on the start but deffinitly not that everyday driving kind of start.

I just read the other post about rod knock, seems like I'm starting a trend .

I checked my oil after seeing that and it was on the line right above the L. No big suprise after about 3-400 miles on the highway this past week and making sure it was full the weekend before. So I don't feel that having an oil level there would cause oil starvation.

Duralube fixes everything.

I'm open to comments and everything but more looking for someone that's heard rod knock before confirming or rejecting that this sounds similar to rod knock.

Pull the oil pan and look at the bearings. That def sounds like a rod knocking tho its hard to tell because I can hear it. Where does the sound seem to be coming from?

I just had my bearings replaced. The noise you have is similar but it seems to be a little more fluttery when you apply gas. On start up I could hear the clanking noise MY bearings made, but at Idle MY bearings made no noise but would make noise when I applied gas. Yours sounds way worse then MY worn/damaged bearings did. You might have spun a bearing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does a spun rod bearing mean? What actually happens?

I found this video and this is exactly what it sounds like when it was loud.

The sound seems like it is coming from the bottom of the block towards the back, cylinder #4. I wouldn't be suprised if it was #4 with all of the problems, mine is an 01'.

By the way when my noise first started I was on the highway at about 7000 rpm
and bam the noise started. I too was close to my exit and sorta drifted/limped home.

How many miles you have on the odo?
