Default rough idle

having a minor issue with my 2004. intermittently when sitting at a red light at idle or just before I turn the car off, I get a little hiccup in the idle, like the engine does not have enough air for a moment. never stalls. mechanic friend recommended cleaning out the throttle body but said if it is one type of throttle body it will require a computer re set after cleaning. he does not have the unit for that.

he also recommended new spark plugs since the mileage is at 101,000. got the car at 64,000 and don't know when they were done last.

do a little research here. there's a DIY for an ICV (idle control valve) cleaning. Ur mechanic's friend is right about cleaning the throttle body but is wrong about the computer reset. He must be talking about something else.

yes you should change the spark plugs too because the recommendation spark plugs change is every 100k miles.

Diy is a "do it yourself" .
Simple step by step instructions with photos can be found on here. As easy as an oil change without going under the car
