Default Rough Idle & Bogging

my car rough idled for the 2nd time this week. i came to a complete stop and it felt as though the whole car was shaking (rough idle). also when im idle if i rev the car, the engine would rev up smooth but when it comes down it sounds like the car is about to stall but catches back to regular idle. recently the car has been bogging around mid-low rpm after driving around for a good 15 min. can it be my spark plugs that have gone bad? i only have 2200 miles on the car but have been driving it pretty rough recently. i really want my car to be running perfectly smooth with no problems before i take it to the shop for the supercharger.

now when you say "rough idle"... do you mean that when you come to a stop, your entire car shakes because of the rough idle and it keeps shaking like this the entire time you're at the stop? or does it only feel "rough" when the rpms dip low as if the car is going to stall, but then the rpm comes back up to normal and the car is smooth once again?

I believe this is normal with S2000's. How's the weather in your area? My car starts acting up like yours when it gets really hot outside. When the RPMs drop down real low, do not try to give it gas to bring the RPMs up. Let the computer learn and deal with what's happening and hopefully it fixes itself. I also give my Map sensor a nice smack with a screwdriver handle. Give that a shot too.

Many of us have had this problem, including myself. After much research on the boards, I found a few solutions which have solved the "almost about to stall" and engine shaking problem.

1) replace your map sensor with the new one from honda ($30).
2) buy some intake manifold cleaner ($10) and spray the whole can (follow the instructions... spray 10 seconds at a time)
3) new spark plugs (i dunno how much this is a factor, but I did it anyways sincec I have an 00 and never had the TSB done to replace em)

I did both of these, including new spark plugs, and I no longer have the rough idling problem... even in intense heat (90+ degrees with high humidity)

hope this helps. also, there have been many posts about this w/ a lot of good info... use the search function if you are interested in learning more

Whacking it never worked me... I also tried taking the sensor out and blowing on it, but that didnt work either... replacing it w/ a new one did the trick for me
