rpms rose with foot off the gas?
I was driving down an extremely long backcountry-ish road today...and this guy was in such a hurry to pull out in front of me and drive 35mph in a 55mph zone for 5 minutes or so. He finally turned off and I gave it a little bit of throttle for a second and then gunned it to about 8000rpms, then I shifted into third and let off the gas after a second or two once i saw my speed. The rpms kept rising. I had to think for a minute and make sure I didn't subconsciously have my foot on the gas. I pushed the clutch in, started to brake...rpms still rising at a slow steady rate. I looked down to make sure nothing was around the gas pedal...nothing there. I revved a few times and it went back down to normal. It never happened again on the rest of the way home...nor have I ever experienced anything like it in this car before...orany other car. Does anyone have ANY idea what might have caused this? I've never heard of it happening before.
Any ideas?
Dave
recent upgrades (last week or so):
AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
550 cc injectors
3.5" comptech SC pulley
AEM EMS
current problems - intercooler piping welds have holes causing boost leaks. Not sure why that would have an affect on anything, but I'm clueless here. I'm only getting 5lbs of boost with the leaks at 8.6 rpms...and the car is currently tuned for this.
Other upgrades that have been on for over 10000 miles:
Comptech SC
Comptech Headers and testpipe
Buddyclub Single Exhaust
front mount intercooler

It's a problem in your EMS tune, or a faulty idle motor. The idle motor was open for some reason, there's no other way for that to happen unless the throttle body was stuck open.

Eliminate the simple thing first. Check to see if your throttle cable is sticking. With the car off, have someone push the pedal to the metal while you are looking at the side of the throttle body (end of cable). Have the pedal released slowly and see if the cable is hard to come through the sheath.
thanks for the replies guys! XViper, i'm going to try and knock that possibility out tomorrow morning when my brother comes over. I'll post the results tomorrow.
Thanks again!

more than one header? i'm confused.
Anyhow, Xviper- it looks smooth to me.
So now to the other options. If it's in the EMS tuning, where do I look? And if it's a faulty idle motor, how can I test that?
Thanks again,
Dave
