Well, I finally got two long driving sessions with GM Synchcromesh, Friction modified, and I am impressed. Tranny is still notchy when cold, but when it warms up, the shifts are very smooth and positive with the GMS FM, even better than the Red Line MTL. So Gernby, your rep stands firm.

I was speed shifting, heel and toeing, with the utmost confidence - no fear of binding up or crunching. TheMugen exhaust continues to get mellower, and the exhaust note at redline is a joy.

Of course, i did find a small oil leak at the drain plug - I have only 1800 miles, and am on second oil change (with 2nd helping of MaxLife Engine protector). I used a new crush washer, although the oold one looked fine, wrenched it on by feel, no leak. I have a magnetic drain plug, and it had some black slightly metallic crud on it ( a few pieces, metallic but not metal - it crumbled between my fingers). It almost look like carbon fiber - maybe it was a sheared off piece of the cylinder liner?

So I will do some more sportin' around this weekend, but GMS FM is definitely a winner, and has the full RR approval.

I must concur with Gernby and RR. Everything that has been said about the fluid is deserving.

I performed a long overdue tranny fluid swap today and also used the GMS FM. I had Redline MT-90 in there for a little less than 12,000 miles and must say it was in need of a change. It was still extremely smooth when warmed up but this GMS FM has transformed the tranny in to a slick shooter. I almost forgot how good it felt to shift with new tranny fluid. No more 12k mile changes here...I think I'm going to stick to 6-7.5k range.

I'm a bit concerned because the tranny drain plug had the slightest bit of gray dust on the backside. Nothing at all like what comes off the back of the diff drain plug but there was a little coating of gray dust. Should I be worried about this or should I just be changing the fluid more often?

Is the internet still the only place to buy this stuff? I try to support the locals but if not doesn't the Marketplace guys sell it?

Glad it worked for you.

I have been purchasing my GMSFM at my local Cadillac dealer. The other GM dealers only have the regular GM Sync.

If I put something made by GM into my Honda wont that result in some sort of breach in the time-space continuum and the destruction of all worldly matter?

Sounds like a good option though, I'm due for a swap and will probably give this a try!

The time-space continuum was breached long ago. Although, I'm sure GM's part in the manufacturing of this oil is very limitted.

Thanks Gernby, Cadillac dealers are the places to get GMSFM.

i got 18,000mi on my car original fluid. is it to early?

how about the residual film left in the transmission. Will there be a foaming problem? Should i flush it out for a few 100mi and change again? to completely remove the original honda fluid. Or is that just a waste?
