So im getting on the 605 north on ramp today and start merging and throw it in 5th gear and right when i release the clutch i hear a crazy noise that a bunch of rocks or something were under my car bouncing around and my shift knob rattle a bit popped out of 5th and then the car turns off... Im doing about 60 by this time and coast to pull over on the side of the freeway.. I try and start the car but to no avail.. The car cranks over but wont start... THen after about 10 attempts the car wont crank at all..electrical is all fine the radio is on lights work... the clutch still engages and you can go through through the gears no problem. im getting it towed home i have no idea what the hell it would be.. under the hood looks fine oil levels are great.. there is fuel in the car.. Any ideas??? thanks..

Yes every time i fill up i check my oil.. never been low.. This happened to my friends S2K.. but he was ITB'd, I-Vtec straight out of designcraft then his Timing Chain snapped and he said it sounded just like that.. and it would crank over then all of a sudden stoppped..

 

Anyone ever expierenced this before

 

Look for holes in the block. Usually when people throw a rod it sounds like a bucket full of gravel thrown under the car. If there is a puddle of oil under the car it's dead.

 

sounds exactly like what happened to me when I spun my rod bearings.

all of a sudden really loud clanking and rattle. then engine died and would crank (real slow) but wouldn't start.

pull the oil pan and see if there is any metal in it (mine had enough to start a small jewelry store)

 

no holes no oil no anything.. the sound was right below the drivers seat.. i assumed the a gear low key exploded in my tranny (ive had a nasty whine in the tranny for a while) right when i released the clutch also right when 5th enaged it just started gargling and just stopped and my car stalled.

 

I was going to say that your clutch imploded, but some of the other symptoms don't make sense if that was what happened.

Pull the coils and plugs and see if you can notice anything out of whack.
