Default S2000 "pulls" left during acceleration

As topic states, I have a 2005 S2K that when under acceleration will "pull" to the left and I have to correct for it or else it will change lanes.....during decel the car will "pull" right and will attempt to go off the road if not corrected.....if speed is steady the car stays straight and drives as normal...it does not pull to one side or the other...

Dealer says the tires are the cause as they are worn on the inside to within 2/32'nds of the wear bars....I think the tires are worn due to the camber that Honda puts in the car to make it handle the way it does....not causing the issue I am having....

What do you folks think?

The car has just over 20k miles and has not been raced or abused in any manner....dealer has done all service work and the car is completely stock with no mod's....

Thanks,
Lori

If one tire is worn more than the other, it could cause the pulling. Also, check to make sure both tires have the same air pressure in them. After that, next thing to check would be the alignment settings but if the dealer says your tires are worn to the wear bars, get new tires THEN get the alignment.

Could be a differential or perhaps halfshaft/CV joint issue.

S2K is very sensitive to inconsistencies in tire pressure.. differences from one wheel to another can cause exactly what you're describing.. pulling to one side on decel. This is certainly the first thing you should check.

Thanks for the replies,

I understand that a low tire will cause pulling in the direction of the low tire....what that doesn't explain is the car pulls the opposite direction under acceleration....I'm thinking it's a differential, halfshaft or rear suspension mounting issue....

I jsut double checked the tire pressure and they are all equal @ 32 psi...

I'm starting to sense a bit of the same thing from my 04. Tire pressures are ok. I don't see how a CV joint could cause this (they don't lose appreciable torsional stiffness, they just break) and I'd be surprised if it was the LS rear end.

Consider something simpler.... How are your rear shocks??

I had this problem and it turned out to be a bad tire.

Swap the rears and go for a drive (don't worry about the direction of the tread, this is just a test). If the problem reverses, it is your tires. If not, something is wrong on the car.

I found the problem.....the dealer did not do what they said they would do.....I asked them to check the air pressure in the tires last saturday when they did the oil change....they stated a few hours ago, that, the pressures were set @ 32 psi......they were partially correct.....3 of the tires were at 32.....one of them, the left rear, was @ 12...yes, 12.....had a tiny nail in it and was just barely leaking and over time it had leaked down to 12 psi and the dealer didn't bother to check all of them.....if he had properly checked them before the alignment was checked, as your supposed to do, then he would have found the low tire....I hate dealers sometimes....

So, the problem was exactly what several people told you it was?

Yup....it was....but thats what you get when you rely on someone to tell you the truth...I was lied to.....when I saw the low tire I knew what was going on....you can bet I won't listen them again...
