Default s2k shuts off in rain...

so far this particular event has happened to my car a total of 3 times, all in similar conditions: outside while raining, parked. I'll start up the car it will run fine, then within a minute usually when i start to drive away from the spot the car just shuts off. No sputtering, no stalling just plain old turns off.

When this happens i wait 5-10 minutes and it starts up. I can no longer hit vtec let alone go past 6k rpm. Also there is quite a bit of whitish smoke/steam if you will comming from my exhaust, even after 5minutes(ish) of reving the smoke is still there. it runs fine the next day but its happened 2 days in a row now and is becomming a botherance

MODS:
aem EMS-1052 (horribly tuned)
aem intake (coldair)
apex n1 exhaust
apex supergrounding kit

-----------

Anyone's help would be GREATLY appreciated, money is tight so it would definately save me alot to take it to honda to figure it out, could it just be tuning or something? water in the motor, any ideas will help i can do the work myself.

-thanks in advance

if anyone needs more details feel free to pm me, also it almost sounds like a problem with the car getting air, but i can't confirm it because everything checked out

well first off I would go tune that AEM EMS then see how that works towards the problem

My bet would be that your AEM intake is causing the problems. Lots of threads on here about the car exhibiting hydrolock symptoms due to this type of intake.

I dont think a few drizzle of water will affect the engine.... if it was hydrolocking(which it isnt) the car would sound like a fricken subaru with a shit exaust... and the engine is done.I put my money on the poorly tuned EMS... tell us how it goes. Maybe the cooler air during the rainy periods + ur ems being poorly tuned be the cause of this?

Sure sounds like water in the intake, just not enough to hydrolock. Look for info about a hole in the channel where the hood meets the right fender. This hole can funnel water from a wide area of the car right into a cold-air intake.

yes be certain there isn't a pool of water in the intake. if it's in there, but doesn't get sucked up into the engine, it could cause enough of an airflow blockage to cause the engine to die.

It also sounds like the engine is sucking in water, either in liquid form or in heavy vapour form. It may not hydrolock, but the water content of the intake air may be enough to make combustion difficult.
Cover that rain channel hole under the hood and put on an umbrella over the filter.
Does the car run fine when it's not been sitting out in the rain? On nice days? If it runs fine on nice days, then the AEM EMS tuning shouldn't be bothered that much just because it's been raining. If it's a crappy tune, then it'll be crappy all the time.

the obvious thing here is the white smoke. Just like when you blow a head gasket, water/antifreeze from the waterjackets carry over into the cylinders and you'll blow white smoke. I'm going to go ahead and assume you are sucking water from the CAI.
