Did you tighten your throttle body cable after you did the cleaning by any chance?? My car had very similar symptoms and I couldn't figure out what it was, but I realized I had overtightened the throttle body cable a bit when i was doing the adjustment.

Also, if not check to see if your cable is too loose. Having a cable that is either too loose or too tight can cause similar symptoms.

^Worth checking, it's free. Doubt it would cause rich condition, though.

However, you may have 'overcleaned' the throttle body and the TPS sensor is now toast in the first half of range of motion. ECU can't tell what position your throttle is at, therefore it dumps a bunch of fuel in. And it runs crappy.

Search for an Omni Throttle Position Sensor. There is a relatively cheap fix out there, ~$140.

Before you do any of that, though, check the TPS. hook up an ohmmeter to it, and move it really really slowly, while monitoring the ohms. they should not jump at all.

Good luck and let us know for sure!

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Take some brake clean and spray it around the throttle body while the engine is running. If the idle changes, then you probably have a vacuum leak.

What octane rating is it cos you guys have different stuff to us over there right? I always run mine on Shell v-power 99 octane or if i cant get that theres a few stations do 97. I could just be a dodgy plug thats causing you the problems. Either go for NGK laser iridium or Denso iridium, they are far better than anything else.

You should invest in a few mods - filter/exhaust etc, made the world of difference to mine
You guys use a different rating system. your 97-99 would rate 91-93 using our system but it is the same gas/octane.
