Anyone successfully use steel pistons, in the S2000 engine?

Thanks!

No one uses steel pistons except slow diesel engines for freighters and cruise ships. Ferrari tried 3d printed steel pistons for F1, and went right back to aluminum, just like the material on s2k pistons. The problem is and always has been weight and oil coking at the ring lands.

s2k pistons are aluminum with an iron coating on the skirts. I still think OP should splurge on new rings, a dingleberry hone SiC 800grit, and send it. If the bores aren't scratched from top to bottom it'll be fine.
