i work at an Advance Auto Parts, and ive never heard of that happeneing before. except if the car dies during the seafoam treatment. my 02 has 26K miles on it. i do a seafoam treatment and a throttle body servce every oil change. ive never added it to the oil or anything. but i have used about 1/4 can through the PCV hose (removing the PCV Valve) and dumping the rest in the gas tank when near full. i also spray the inside of the intake manifold with carb and choke cleaner to remove any carbon in knooks and cranny's. after letting the car idle for about 20 minutes i rev the engine to about 5k a few times to clear it out. then i beat the hell out of it. with the ACT stage 2 Clutch and rebuilt trans. it chirps 4th. ive never had sluggish problems after any of this.

You aren't supposed to drive your car hard with that in the oil! Give it a few good revs and let it idle, but don't drive it (especially hard). Change your oil ASAP and hope to hell you didn't hurt your engine.

yeah the bottle says u can drive with it in there. and that wouldn't cause it to act sluggish. because everyone else would of had that problem that put it in there oil. but i've been driving it. and its slowly getting better. but i think its just the spark plugs because i've read that u should change them after. so i'm gonna run out this tank of fuel and change the oil and plugs.

all the carbons probably deposited on the plugs blocking it and making it cooler. the bigger the spark the bigger the boom.

i'll let you know what happens.

thanks for all the updates.

if this doesn't work. what do u guys recommend as the next course of action.

I always though you had to change it immediately afterwards.. I could be wrong though.

I was always to afraid to put some in the oil...

Ding ding ding....you need to change your oil right after the car stops smoking....this stuff will destroy your oil...thats its job really...the oil comes out real watery....

I think you guys have way too much faith in this stuff. We tried this stuff on a v-twin motorcyle before we tore it down. 11,200 miles and 1 treatment of Seafoam = carbon buildup in all the places you'd expect. Nothing at all was cleaned by this stuff. Much of what you read about Seafoam isn't fact, it's just a bunch of kids saying their throttle response or idling improved. It puts on such a great smoke show i think it's a placebo effect.

I don't know why anyone would leave that in the oil. Seems like a big risk for a pricey motor

Anything that dilutes the oil is going to cause more wear.

Cheto-take it to 2nrwerks. They can fix it if it's not fixed.

haven't done seaform in new cars or my s2k yet.. but when i did it on older cars i never put it in the gas tank or oil just suck it up thru pvc slower without killing the car.. once it sucks up 1/3 i turn it off and let it soak.. start it up and let it smoke at idle till theres no more.. once done i go for drive and usually some smoke still comes out.. i just don't trust that stuff in my gas tank or oil if it burns carbon like butter

also i would never use seaform or any other additives and cleaning solutions in any obd2 cars.. thats just me tho
