Default seafoam / lucas engine cleaners

went to buy some seafoam cause of all the great things i had read about it (for maintenance of a low mileage car that sits more than it drives)... was told that in calif and several other states seafoam can not be sold.
i was told that lucas is the second best choice.

anyone here use lucas in the gas tank?
how much to you use just for maintenance?

I see seafoam at kragen all the time.

Seafoam is a hit or miss. Some people swear it does something. From personal experience, I've only noticed that my car burned more oil after treatment, most likely due to the removal of deposits (which may not always be a good thing). No significant increase in gas mileage.

From what I've read on BITOG forums, people stay away from all Lucas products.

I've been advised that engine cleaners and additives are completely unnecessary.

BITOG Fourm? Lucas is some of the best oil and oil products out there. I would put it up against anything else sold.

i use to use the lucas products and I was always happy with the results. Lucas products are top notch. Since i converted my car over to run on e85 i no longer need them.

I've bought seafoam in Cali. Us DSMers use it all the time.

most auto part stores sell seafoam, even in cali. i've never used it on my S, but on other cars with high mileage it seemed to help a bit. don't expect it to work miracles, if you your idle seems weak, getting bad fuel mileage, etc. it may help a bit, but definitely shouldn't replace scheduled maintenance or anything.

I've used seafoam on my last oil change and really like it, I've been using it on all my cars 2 integra gsr's one turboed and now my s2k, I did notice that response in the engine was smoother and was quiet a little more, was a big difference no but enough I can notice, just remember though it's not as cheap as you may think to use it because after the carbon burns which for my04 at the time had 56,xxx burned quite a bit of carbon surprisingly, will foul up your spark plugs so be prepared to spend over $40 for another set of plugs, use your old one's as spare for you next seafoam treatment, as for the lucus which I've used before with good results, I DO NOT LISTEN TO BOB THE OIL GUY yes they may be professionals but I think their test on lucas stabilizer foaming up is stupid because one they are using gears our pistons and rods are not in a gear motion, two they do not use heat in their tests at all which is a big factor, alot of people on team-integra.net have sucess with them and there are those few out there that oppose it, if it works and others like it give it a try if not drain it.
