Default Seat damage prevention

Hey folks,

I was just curious to know if there happens to be a way to prevent wear to the S2000 seats more specifically the side bolsters? I my car still is very low in mileage and the seats are still fairly in good shape. Any suggestions to prevent wear other than replacing the seat with an aftermarket one?

Suggestions are most welcome

thx

Don't sit in them . Of course I'm kidding. Mequiers makes a good leather treatment that I use. As for the sides being careful getting in and out of the car can avoid excessive wear. Try not to "flop" down onto the side of your seat when getting into the car.

Theres really no comfortable way to not mess up the side bolsters IMO. I always avoid sitting on the bolsters as much as possible but somehow it will end up being squished over time.

Using a terry-cloth towel between you and the seat eliminates a lot of stress on the perforated leather, the towel slides on the seat when you move, denim kinda sticks to the seat and pulls on the leather.

I keep it moist and this reduces the friction. With a leather treatment of course...

For me it is how i enter and exit the car, if i slip into the seats i rub against the bolster causeing wear...so i plant myself in the seat from above, just mildly drop into the seat instead of sliding in...wear is deminished. i also apply some leather stuff to the seats a few times a year at most.

Don't get all OCD over wearing out the seats. Yeah I'd avoid sitting directly on the bolsters but any good upholstery shop can renew the foam. The leather is also replaceable with after market covers so enjoy your car.

Personally I've used Wet Okole neoprene covers the past five years (I'm top down a lot in tropic sun) and my MY04 seats are mint.

I've had my Wet Okole seat covers on my seats since they were new. Eight years later, the leather seats beneath them still look new. Besides keeping the leather pristine, the neoprene fabric doesn't get hot on hot sunny days and doesn't freeze your butt off on frigid winter days. And you don't slide around on this fabric.
