Thumbs up Shaky Shifter

My shifter vibrates and shakes around quite a bit and I was wondering if there is a nut that can be tightened or a some maintenance I can do to rememdy this.

My car is stock but I noticed that it became worse after I bought the 17" MY04 wheels which obviously have lower profile tires.

Muchos Gracias!

The shifter wiggles because the transmission and engine wiggle. The only thing you can do to reduce it is to install stiffer engine mount bushings and / or install a J's engine damper.

Thanks gernby... Could it be a sign of maybe a bad stock bushing- cracked?

even brand new s2000's have "shaky shifters". its just a characteristic of having the shifter directly connected to the transmission, the transmission sits right under it. its not like a hydraulic or cable actuated shifter.

I understand this, it just seems to have gotten noticably worse. Although, the roads here in Portland, OR suck and this heightens the problem.

Thanks guys for the help!

Wouldn't installing stiffer engine mounts make the vibration more noticable? On my previous car, which was a civic hb with a b18c swap, when i swapped to stiffer mounts the whole car vibrated (yeah the ladies loved it )

Put the car up on jacks and look at the engine mounts. No reason to just guess. I had a shaking shifter, and when I looked at the engine mounts I found one busted.

Stiffer mounts would make the whole car shake more. On the other hand, they would make the shifter shake less.
