Exclamation Shifter Had NO GREASE

I had a feeling that I should pull my shifter to check the condition of the grease and regrease it accordingly. To my surprise there was NO GREASE in there whatsoever. My car's clutch was changed shortly before I bought it and it feels great. No issues with the clutch or with the gearbox and shift feel. It felt great cold or hot. Regardless I got Urea grease for a future clutch job before going boost so I figured let me check my shifter. I pulled it out, cleaned it with carb cleaner (not that there was anything to really clean) and applied Urea grease to all the components. Feeling satisfied, I went for a test drive and man, I was even more satisfied at the result! Shifts feel even better now, definitely smoother and there's that peace of mind knowing that my shifter assembly HAS GREASE in it as designed by Honda!

Moral of the story: if you have not pulled your shifter before, do it. You might find the same grease-less situation in there...

I've got to do my CR soon, I did my AP2 a while back and found that the grease was dry and crusty.

I’m going to do my 06 this weekend. I’ll be interested to see how it looks. It doesn’t like to go into 3rd when cold.

This is what mine looked like after 150k miles. Refreshed it last week.

After carriage/bushing replacements and new grease.

Shifts feel amazing now.

How's your trans fluid? Which fluid are you using? Definitely do the regrease anyway

yeah mine DID NOT EVEN look like yours when you pulled it! There was literally no grease on anything. The idiots who replaced my clutch did not take the time to grease the shifter assembly at all. Not to mention the fact that they obviously yanked the boot because I could see tears
I can replace the boot at a later stage so it's not a big deal right now but still I'm upset. Yes the shifts do feel amazing post the regrease
